During Hopkins' numerous cross country journeys he discovered and became enamored with the distinctive desert and mountain topography of the Southwest. Always exploring and discovering the stunning landscape of America. In 2002 with the encouragement of his wife, Stella, Hopkins started painting. His Ink Drawings and Acrylic Paintings have been inspired by the "Impressions" of his travels through the American Southwest. He conveys a visual interpretation of the American vastness by often using abstracted form, light, shadow and color.
